How I did it: After years of ignoring animal suffering, I finally decided to become educated on the topic, and incidentally became so emotionally distraught, that I made the resolution to forsake the consumption of all meat! At first I felt like a prude and a picky eater, but eventually I accepted my diet as part of who I was. How I did it: I found books at the library that related to my interests, and even checked out some books that were highly-esteemed by other people, such as "Twillight." Bottom line: if you really like a certain type of book, like romance, don't be afraid to indulge that. Read how I did it…

When you have a family that is fun to be around, you often look no further than your own backyard for enjoyment on a Friday night. Luckily college has forced me to separate myself from my family, and have fun in different ways. In my family, I am often the center of attention, but when I am out with friends, I have more opportunity to observe, and it actually is more fulfilling. I love my family, but hanging out with them all the time, is less-than-challenging. Being social with non-family members, is a great learning experience, but it is something I still need to work on, especially when I go back home for breaks.
I am afraid to be myself around non-family members because whenever I let my guard down, I say things I don’t mean, and say a lot of pointless and dumb things. In most circumstances, I can laugh at myself, but when I am not with my family, I get embarrassed, even around friends.
