I don’t know exactly what the catalyst was for this, other than the fact that one day I had a horrific hangover and was in no mood to be around cigarettes. I just never started back up again. It was easy for a week, but at times I’d get cravings when I was sober. The hardest thing was resisting when I’d been drinking.
Yeah, I sucked it up when I gained ten pounds, but I feel so much better (physically and mentally). An added bonus comes with knowing that I had the will-power to kick a habit I’ve had for almost thirteen years. If I can do it, ANYONE can. Honestly, you don’t realize how bad you smell until you quit and come home from a night at the bar reeking of stale smoke and ashes. It’s really gross.
I went through numerous packs of gum, late-night Chinese buffets and started doing jumping jacks until I almost passed out. Anything to take my mind off it, I did it.
