A new job. Again. Adult oncology again but they promise me with less medicine overflow. New blue scrubs. Whee.

I spent two days job shadowing in the OR. It was a lot of fun. But they are only hiring someone with experience. Oh well, so it goes.
I know it’s too early after only 2 weeks at it to say anything, but I’m just not sure peds is it. =( Argh.
I am frustrated because it seems impossible to get a job in the ICU. Like I should have known someone or worked as a tech or anything in the ICU when I was in school.
I am switching later this month from oncology to peds. It’s going to be a world of difference but isn’t that the whole point? You keep trying things until something works. Also I will be closer to the PICU and getting some ICU experience.
To summarize oncology has been okay but it is a difficult time right now on the unit as we have expanded and moved locations during my time here. Also a huge dissapointment for me is that my preceptor who I would still ask questions of, she quit. So I kind of feel lost like we aren’t even in the same place and we don’t have the same staff and it’s just not the place it was when I started.
So I move on.
Have harvested yellow squash, jalapeno peppers, and a few okra. Still on the plant is a tomato that won’t turn red, more baby squash and some cayenne peppers we are wanting to turn red as well. =)
I was off for a week for vacation. I have finished my orientation period and all my checkoffs and whatnot. Now I go about it on my own, which is kind of a scary thing.
So far oncology is great. We have oncology/hematology/surgery, and it is like 99.9% less stressful than the old ICU stepdown job.
=) Yay!
Well I did a little vacuum/swiffer today, but I need a total cleaning, then a weekly effort to stay clean. Right now I am so far behind it is discouraging.
one more step forward. got a new dryer. larger than the old one and also with the moisture sensor so it will stop with slightly damp clothes if you want, or it will continue until they are dry, no matter what kind of load.
The old machine would just time out, and if it was a blanket or something, it would often be only half dry. Plus this one will tumble automatically every couple minutes so the clothes don’t wrinkle if you don’t unload it right when it stops. =)
plus i got a laundry sack from the dry cleaners so that i can pile my dry cleaning into a sack, makes for a neater laundry area.
now i just need to get myself moving.
I quit my job. How’s that for saying “no”?
OK maybe a bit extreme, but I will start fresh and this time I will communicate better.
