This is the path I’m trying.
So far, it is very effective. I go every Thursday night to a group who are fantastic, it’s making me consider converting to Buddhism as it seems to give me a lot of peace, and makes me a more calm, centred person.

How I did it: I visited a dentist in London who specialises in phobic patients, her name is Jenny Pinder and I can't recommend her enough. I also took my brother along for the first couple of visits until I got into the swing of things again. Read how I did it…
This is the path I’m trying.
So far, it is very effective. I go every Thursday night to a group who are fantastic, it’s making me consider converting to Buddhism as it seems to give me a lot of peace, and makes me a more calm, centred person.
I made a New Year’s Resolution that I would tidy the house for half an hour every day.
So far..amazingly…I’ve managed to keep it going! Yay!
The results are impressive. I’m amazed how much you can get done in a short space of time, and half an hour is short enough so I don’t get bored. My boyfriend is certainly a lot happier, and I’m no longer the ‘messy one’ in our relationship! His mum even came over the other day and commented about how tidy the house was, whereas before she’d always joke about it being a mess.
If I do skip a day because I’m tired or whatever, I don’t beat myself up about it. Instead, I just do an hour the next day. They say that it takes a month to form a habit, but I think it’s less time than that as I already find that I can’t relax properly in the evenings until I’ve had my little tidy. It’s enough time to wash up, put some washing on and then tackle one big job (ie kitchen sink, cleaning the bath, the hobs on the oven etc).
I set a timer and I always finish up when it goes off so that it doesn’t seem too much like a chore.
Anyway, hope those tips helped! It is worth pursuing this one, even though it’s one of the duller options on my list – you feel really good about yourself afterwards.
I’ve been practicing a lot recently as I’ve had more free time on my hands, and I have a couple of gigs coming up where I’ll be singing and accompanying myself. Bar chords nearly mastered now – I’d say they sound perfect about 80% of the time but I’m still working on building up my strength in my left hand. I’m really pleased with the progress I’m making though, and I’m looking forward to buying a better guitar in a year or so’s time.
