I’ve made a few quilts, now, and it can be as easy or hard as you want it to be. Fabric stores can be addictive (and expensive), but the results are worth it. The actual task of making a quilt is so relaxing!

I’m starting to learn Italian. My brother gave me his old Italian tapes, which I’ve been listening to on my way to work. My best friend just finished reading Eat Pray Love, and has declared that she, too, wants to learn Italian, so I have a speaking partner. I’m finding that, at 47, my memory for vocabulary isn’t what it used to be. But it’s still fun!
Being not only opinionated and curious, but also sarcastically witty, I think I would make an ideal, though somewhat inferior, replacement for Molly Ivins, God rest her soul. Not sure how to break into the biz, though. I don’t have a degree from Mizzou or Columbia or the Medill School of Journalism. Know nothing about the newspaper business, except that it’s rapidly sinking into oblivion, which makes this whole desire of mine rather quixotic. Oh well.
