I have been so afraid of dogs all my life and I don’t know the reason why. I was eighteen years old and still periodically having nightmares about dogs and avoiding them on the streets. But something happened that changed all that, and I could not have predicted it. A dog of a friend of mine got hit by a car and I was so unsettled by the news that I cried myself to sleep the night I heard. I realized how much I loved that little annoying dog and something just clicked. Ever since then, not only have I lost my fear of dogs but I approach almost every dog I see on the street, no matter shape or size, and even badly want one of my own. There is hope!

I finally saw my favorite group live since I first saw them perform five years ago at Smoking Groove, and twice in one week. First on St.Patrick’s day in Chicago in a seated venue and then a couple days later in Minneapolis in a standing room venue. Amazing! The Roots rock for a reason.
Surprisingly, there is considerable room to stretch your legs. If you can’t go to sleep just stare out the window into the pitch black of the night (no city lights!)and try to decide if the train is moving or not.
