The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
Good book! Very fast and easy read; however, it is a very sad story. I wonder if the movie is good – has anyone seen it?

How I did it: We were originally going to put 10% down and had that money saved already. Then we realized how much money we could save on PMI if we worked hard and got the 20% downpayment together before closing date. That was only 2-3 months away so we took a serious look at our budget and cut out all the items we could. We talked about turning off the cable but w/ only 2 months left to our goal, decided the dent was too small. We worked as much o… Read how I did it…
How I did it: We started looking over a year and a half ago. We knew what we wanted in a house, but we didn't know exactly what area we wanted to live in. I can't even tell you how many houses we looked at in 8 different cities in the area. The most important (and frustrating) thing was that we knew what we wanted and wouldn't budge. We had 2 failed offers and took a month or two off of searching after each. Finally, we found it! We had a great t… Read how I did it…
How I did it: This has become second nature. When we got serious about buying a home, we knew we had to change the way we spend money. Most of our spending money was going toward eating out. We started meal planning and grocery shopping once a week and those 2 things were the big key for us. Having food in the house at all times is necessary, otherwise, we end up at Chili's/Chipotle/Panera/etc. We still go to those places, but not nearly as often … Read how I did it…

I got married early March 2008 but just changed my name at the end of October 2009. I really liked my name. It flowed well, it was easy to sign, my degree has my maiden name, and, most of all, it is my daddy’s name. My husband was really understanding of my reluctance at first and I promised him I would change it before our first child was born, which is still a little time from now, but he started to make little comments that made me think it bothered him that we didn’t have the same name. We just bought a house together and I have to change my address on everything so I figured now was the perfect time. I am officially Mrs. H. Well, Dr. H. really but the Mrs. stated the point better.
Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx
I am reaffirming my commitment to this goal even though it doesn’t look promising. I’ve decided to focus on small books so I can still do all the things I need to do for the new house w/o ditching this goal.
Brokeback Mountain was 55 pages which is perfect! The book was interesting. The first sexual encounter between the 2 characters was shocking in that there was absolutely no build up and it was all very nonchalant. If you didn’t know what the book was about, it would be quite a surprise. They must have added a lot to make a movie out of it, though, because the character depth was just not present in the book, but how could they be well developed in 55 pages?
