Last summer we stayed at the Stanley Hotel up in Estes Park, Colorado. They Stanley is the hotel that gave Stephen King the idea for “the Shining”. The hotel supposedly has several ghosts, but we didn’t have anything so much as the pipes creak while we were there. We did see a herd of Elk on the lawn though. It is a beautiful hotel, which is the only reason I would consider going back.

Anyone who knew me would never guess that I would say it wasn’t worth it, but if you really love shoes, then it is painful to spend $500 on a beautiful pair only to be faced with the cruel reality that the entire time you are wearing them they are at risk from scuff marks, water, dirt, gum, and all sorts of horrible things found on sidewalks and streets. Unless buying a pair of Manolo’s isn’t a budgetary stretch for you, and you can own tons of pairs, it is too much stress to spend the entire time you are wearing them worried about ruining them :-)

I recently traveled to Greece, and loved it. Thankfully, I was able to stay with some friends that I had gone to school with in the U.S. who are originally from Greece, so they were able to show me around the city and translate for me. I really don’t know what I would have done otherwise! I know how to speak several languages, but the greek alphabet and words are not really intuitive in the same manner that french, italian, or spanish tend to be.

My hair is naturally Auburn so this wasn’t that much of a stretch, but I wanted to dye it RED RED, like the color of Marcia Cross on Desperate Housewives. It is something fun to do once, but the color starts fading so fast that I think I will stick to Auburn.

Austria is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited. Everyone who has seen the photos that I took there thinks they look like the pictures on postcards.

I wanted to learn Italian for my trip to Italy. I think that it was a wise decision as I managed to get lost and needed directions. I am pretty certain that I could have found someone who could have given me the directions in English, but it was a relief not to have to worry about trying.

I just got back from my trip on the Orient Express. I have to say that the trip from London to Venice is beautiful. I never could have imagined how beautiful Switzerland and Austria are in the fall. The train itself is gorgeous as they have done a fabulous job of restoring the cars. However, the sleeping compartments are tiny, but after a while you get accustomed to it. The food is amazing and the experience as a whole is one that I will remember for the rest of my life.

So, I bought a bottle of absinthe (La Fee) when I went to London. Even after louching it, I could barely drink it. To me, it tasted like a mixture of ouzo, jagermeister, and what I imagine lighterfluid to taste like. I definitely would never drink it again, though I guess it was an experience…

Seeing the Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theater in NY was different from seeing a play or musical anyplace else. There is something so unique about being in New York City, sitting with thousands of other people, sharing in an experience like that.

Calligraphy is a beautiful way to be able to express yourself. With so many different fonts that can be learned, it is a process of constantly trying new things. Just don’t let everyone know you can do it, or people will try to rope you into addressing their wedding invitations!

Okay, so I didn’t pass the test when I tried, but I plan to try again in the future. It seems a lot easier when you are watching it on TV and answering the questions.

It is amazing to get to see these animals in person. It is remarkable to see them in their natural surroundings. The only problem is that you never know when or if you are going to get to see one, so luck plays a definite part in it being fun.

I’ve visited a number of places in Mexico, and my favorites have to be Cabo San Lucas and Ixtapa.

For a diehard DMB fan, getting to meet Dave Matthews or any of the guys from the band is an incredible experience. I still can’t believe that I got to meet Dave, or how incredibly nice he is.

It never hurts to have another skill, and fishing is rather relaxing. Plus, it is kind of fun when you catch the biggest fish, or the most fish.

Adopting a puppy, especially from a pound or shelter, not only makes you feel good about yourself, but you also end up with an amazing companion.

Traveling with friends is one of the fastest ways you can get to know someone really indepth. You will learn more about someone from traveling with them for a week than you might from hanging out with them for a month.

I love belly dancing. You have the opportunity to express your creative and sensual side, plus it is fabulous for toning, and guys love it.
