Birthday Sock tradition instead of presents
Untitled 8 months ago

Birthday socks are the exact same size as xmas socks, only in bright colors. The idea is that instead of presents, packaging, and materialistic expectations, focusing on the Birthday Sock = Big Meaning in Small Gifts. Its frugal and its fun! Everyone in the family shares the Birthday Sock in some families, in others each person gets their own bright wacky sock! Its one of my favorite new traditions. I speak with groups about frugality, and the importance of family traditions. The idea of the Birthday Sock is new, but people appreciate the liberation of the idea! I will soon be selling my own line of handmade Birthday Socks!
Birthday Socks, because celebrating your life isn’t about getting presents, its about being Present.

make my own laundry soap.
Startlingly easy. Super frugal. Environmentally respectful. 8 months ago

I had been meaning to do this for some time now. Lately when I wanted inspiration again I found chatrooms full of people talking about frugality, laundry, and comparing stories and recipies. The washing world has taken notice! One batch makes 5 gallons—and I only use a scoop at a time. This will last me all year! Why didn’t I do this sooner?

Keep a 5 year diary
How I started a 5 year diary for $3. 8 months ago

5 year diaries cannot be found in bookstores. They just look at you blankly when you ask. Their loss! So this year when the daily entry calendars were onsale for $3 closeout end of February I brought a big desk sized book with plenty of space to write. I have noted two lines for each year. This is great! Frugal, effective and a lasting memoir.

I so very much dream of buying all the used 5year diaries when posted on ebay and starting a collection. They were most popular in the 1930s anmd 1940s… Oh the stories those pages tell.
