Birthday socks are the exact same size as xmas socks, only in bright colors. The idea is that instead of presents, packaging, and materialistic expectations, focusing on the Birthday Sock = Big Meaning in Small Gifts. Its frugal and its fun! Everyone in the family shares the Birthday Sock in some families, in others each person gets their own bright wacky sock! Its one of my favorite new traditions. I speak with groups about frugality, and the importance of family traditions. The idea of the Birthday Sock is new, but people appreciate the liberation of the idea! I will soon be selling my own line of handmade Birthday Socks!
Birthday Socks, because celebrating your life isn’t about getting presents, its about being Present.

How I did it: www.LaughingLaura.com She is based in Iowa and is founder of the Iowa School of Laughter. I took a 3 day retreat and learned volumes, met other amazing laughing freinds and recommend her training without hesitation. She hosts trainings throughout the year. And she trained with Dr. Kataria himself. How excellent! I'm on a new career path and laughing wild amid severest woe thanks to Laughing Yoga and my … Read how I did it…
How I did it: Went to Etsy. Found a dress I loved. Became a member of Etsy and went to write the creator. After a few more etsy-mail conversations -- Taaaa-dah! You can also post on Etsy's "Alchemy" page for a project and let others respond to you. Amazing amount of talent available to you for the asking. I'm so glad I took courage and trusted the results. What fun! Read how I did it…
How I did it: Watched how to videos on You Tube, visited other diaper cake maker sites for ideas. Ultimately trust your own design decisions - way more fun. Buy 1 box diapers (check their target registry to find out if new mom wants cloth or plastic). You'll have enough for multiple cakes. You can stick to diapers only format or go bonkers with all sorts of other baby stuff. If you want to go this route, always ask other… Read how I did it…

I had been meaning to do this for some time now. Lately when I wanted inspiration again I found chatrooms full of people talking about frugality, laundry, and comparing stories and recipies. The washing world has taken notice! One batch makes 5 gallons—and I only use a scoop at a time. This will last me all year! Why didn’t I do this sooner?
5 year diaries cannot be found in bookstores. They just look at you blankly when you ask. Their loss! So this year when the daily entry calendars were onsale for $3 closeout end of February I brought a big desk sized book with plenty of space to write. I have noted two lines for each year. This is great! Frugal, effective and a lasting memoir.
I so very much dream of buying all the used 5year diaries when posted on ebay and starting a collection. They were most popular in the 1930s anmd 1940s… Oh the stories those pages tell.
