A theater actress in her mid-30s I work with occaisonally can do a handstand and then walk on her hands a few steps. I am so inspired. No where near this yet, but I’m going to do this.

In Junior High I was involved in diving and synchronized swimming. I did a backdive without thinking of my footing and scraped by back on the edge of the board and briefly hung there by the back of my suit before crashing into the pool. I soon gave up diving and swimming. A competitive friend joined the HS swim team and as I did not want to jeopardise the friendship I did not join the team. So now decade plus has passed and I want to face the fear and get back in the pool—to swim, to dive, to backdive! “Its never too late to be who you can be.”
I loved Rio. I was there in the cold months (July August) when I went the first time. No Carnivale madness, no over crowded beaches. I had such a great time. The BIG rock by Ipanema is one of my favorite places to be in the whole wide world. I remember the sand sculpture artists magnificent creations. A friend and I walked and walked and walked all over town taking pictures and talking about life. Luckily a kind American Ex-pat saw us in one neighborhood, told us put the cameras away, follow me two blocks as if we know each other and then gave us directions to get out of that shifty scary neighborhood. The kind man shared that “Some people have been killed for less around here.” So I know the city is not utopia. But the architecture! The tram ride to the top of the park. The views! And I hold Rio close to my heart because I saw Bird of Paradise orange flowers growing in big groups out infront of apartments, homes and businesses. I found my pictures earlier today and remembered so many details. What am amazing city!
