The day of our closing, butterflies danced in my stomach. Here we were, buying our first house! Can I just say that I was thrilled and vaguely sick at the same time. I have always lived a sort of gypsy lifestyle….never staying anywhere for very long (usually no more than a year in any one house or apartment) and I was making a commitment to this house with a 30 YEAR MORTGAGE! I was paniced and kind of dizzy when a co-worker reminded me that we could always SELL the house and wouldn’t be stuck in it for the next 30 years! Once that thought settled in, I was ready to close. I am constantly amazed at how differently I look at our house now that we are buying it though! I mean everything I see registers as dollar signs in my head…..this much money to paint…this much money to replace our fence in the back yard…this much money to replace the flooring in the kitchen and living room…. No matter what though, it was worth the effort!!!

How I did it: I developed a horrible cough and had three episodes where my lungs closed up and I couldn't breathe! I tried using my inhaler to open my airways but it just wasn't working. Every time I smoked, my lungs seemed to tighten up and I was miserable. After one particularly bad night, I realized that it had been 12 hours since my last cigarette. I just kept going until it was 24 hours and then 1 more day.....Today is day … Read how I did it…
My husband and I have only been married for four years but we seem to have had more than our share of bad things happen in our marriage. This past year, we relocated to a smaller city and agreed to put 110% of our effort into each other and stop bringing all of our past garbage into our current marriage. I have to say that we have definitely improved our relationship. Living in a more moderate home and not trying to live beyond our means has helped us with our financial issues and being more open to each other has helped strengthen our marriage. We have been through it all…infidelity, money problems, issues with teenagers…but through it all we have saved each other!
Even though I am from South Carolina, I did not know that there was a Carolina hockey team. My husband is a Penguins fan so we followed their games. I was thrilled to learn that not only was there a Carolina team but they were in the playoffs. As they moved closer to the Finals, I held my breath and prayed that they would make it. It took all 7 games but they came out on top!!!!
