The strangled cries bled from her crushed throat,
And bruises bloomed blue roses on white flesh as
His hands tightened. Her fragile body thrashed,
Her starving lungs ached to draw last breath.
She was still, as starbursts flashed in dying eyes
And angles with bowed heads at beauty wept.
She offered him her being and her soul,
And now in pure submission is she kept.

stop biting my nails

I bit my nails while I was growing up and about 5 years ago I decided to stop. All I did was make sure that I started to notice when I was biting and then make myself take my fingers out of my mouth and stop. It sounds stupid, but that was all it took over a period of a few weeks. I found it helpful to keep them cut shorter and filed down for a while after that so it wasn’t as tempting to bite (now I keep them short anyways.)

The thing about it all for me was that it was the first habit that I’d really be able to take control of and break, and it proved to me that I could do this in other areas of my life. Since then I’ve concentrated on self-discipline in other areas and when it feels like I won’t be able to do something I remind myself that I’ve broken habits before and will be able to do it again.

crochet a blanket
Yet another blanket started... 3 years ago

I’ve started a lot of blankets over the years and never once finished one. This time I’m determined to finish. I’m making it in squares of pink velveteen yarn and the joining colour is purple.. I was a little worried about the colours but now that I’ve done a few squares I can see that they sit together really well. I think that it’s going to be gorgeous.

After I’ve done this one I think I might do a matching one in blues.
