Our summer would not be complete without a trip through Cades Cove. We spent the day exploring there followed by a picnic by the river. Here is a pic of a birds nest we discovered in an old cabin.

How I did it: The process to become a foster parent varies from state to state. In Tennessee one has to complete 30 hours of training, plus become certified in first aid and CPR. Each family member must pass a physical exam and have a criminal background check performed. I’ve been teaching the kids to cook. This week we checked out a book at the library titled “Carrot Soup” by John Segal. It’s a cute story about a rabbit who plants a garden of many different kinds of carrots. The carrots are used to make his favorite dish – carrot soup. The recipe is included in the back of the book.
The kids had fun shredding the carrots and the soup was actually pretty good
