quit drinking
Because... 19 months ago

I have quit drinking alcohol for many reasons. First, and most important, for my son. He is almost two. And he deserves parents who are in control of themselves at all times. I grew up with an alcoholic parent and it was awful, really awful. I would hate for him to think about me what I think about my mom. I want him to be proud to have me as his mom.

Second, for myself. Having an alcoholic parent, I am much more likely to become an alcoholic myself. And, I can see that I am on my way, if I don’t stop drinking. It is definitely going to be easier to quit drinking now than when it becomes an addiction. So, adios, alcohol!

learn reiki
Definitely worth doing! 3 years ago

Both my husband and I got our Reiki I certificates together. We have used it so often over the last year and a half. I am interested in getting my Reiki II certificate and offering my services to others.

We went to a “mystical” book store the other day because they had a shaman who was doing reiki treatments. He offered a free one to me because I am pregnant. How cool is that?

Last week, it was 5 weeks...today, two weeks! 3 years ago

My sonogram yesterday revealed a very big baby. He is about the size of your average newborn and I am only 36 1/2 weeks along. Stupid gestational diabetes! Anyway, the doctor is now talking about inducing labor in two weeks! TWO WEEKS! Both my husband and I were freaking out a bit yesterday. It’s only 1 1/2 weeks before the due date but it just kind of finally really hit us – we are going to be bringing home a human being for whom we will be totally responsible. Excuse me while I freak out a little bit!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally excited, too. It is just coming up very fast and I’m also experiencing labor/pain anxiety. I know I’m going to get an epidural but I’m scared of the pain.

And we still have so much to do! We haven’t even picked out a pediatrician yet! We have an office narrowed down but have yet to interview any of the doctors or even just go to the office. We are slack procrastinators.

And, to top it off, the doctor says I’m pretty much on bed rest (i.e. house arrest) until after birth. Basically she just wants me to take it easy and relax and quit running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Which I have been doing. I have a “Before Baby To Do List” which still has a few things on it. But, the world won’t end if those things don’t get done.

Deep Breath.
