Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Quit Smoking (read all 2 entries…)

I have quit before with Nicquitin pathes, and they worked. I was smoke free for two months.
So I knew that patches worked for me, but the Nicquitin was very itchy and sore, it also made me feel dizzy, lethargic, and gave me head aches. It also had a tendency to make my leg feel numb (As I usually put the patches on my bottom so no one would see it.)
They were twenty-four hour patches so they gave me terriable nightmares, sleepless nights and cold sweats.

This time I chose a different brand of nicotine patches, the Nicorette is only a sixteen hour patch and you take it off at night. Also, it has been no trouble, I don’t even notice it is there at all.
I do still feel the urge to smoke, but I don’t feel the ‘need’ to because the patch is giving me the nicotine I need, so i’m not moody and snappy.

The Smell

I have been sick of smoking for quite a while now.
It gives me no pleasure, it is just routine.
My non-smoking friends have been commenting on the smell when I had been for a smoke.
So yesterday I bought seven Nicorette patches and today I put one on. I do still feel like having a cig, but I just think of the reasons why I’m quitting and if I can’t stop thinking about smoking I will put in my iPod and have a silent disco, (Haha, by myself).

Public Transport is Pathetic

Public Transport is pathetic, my bus simply did not turn up the other day. I had to wait for the next one.

Theory test first. Booked for 18 Feb 10!
Practical test next. Sometime in June hopefully!
