I pruned a pretty big branch off the orange tree with just a pruning saw and some major elbow grease (and, of course my husband, who was holding the branch I was sawing).
Yes, I can be a girl’s girl. I love cute things, 5 inch heels, makeup and shopping, but one of the things I feel are undervalued in this world is manual labor.
In a time where we can pay for gardeners to pull our weeds, and washing machines to scrub out stains, doing manual labor keeps me happy because it keeps me humble (yes, humility is a recurring theme in my entries).
So I sawed, tip-toed on the edge of the retaining wall (the tree is on a hill), one hand on the tree, the other holding a saw. “Keep going, you’re almost there,” A encouraged.
Finally, it came off. A caught it, and I smiled. It couldn’t have come sooner.

How I did it: Let's face it: As a working adult, sometimes you feel like you don't have the time to pack a lunch to bring to work. So, what made me start? My biggest incentive is this:My husband wants to take a trip to Europe!"Great. What part of my discretionary income am I going to have to make adjustments to?," I thought. Bringing lunch to work just seems like the easiest, most practical thing I could do to save… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Step One: Find your passion. My passion in life is recycling. Before I throw anything away, I try and divert it from the landfill, which drives my husband nuts. Step Two: Find out what you can do with that passion. I took that passion and found that I could make things out of things people didn't need anymore. Things like magazines, file folders, old chipboard got "upcycled" into punched out hearts, env… Read how I did it…
How I did it: In retrospect, I realized that I was clarabutting all along. I just didn't put it in the forefront of my thoughts, but when I did, it was obvious: I had to mark this goal as complete. There was, absolutely, no other way. Read how I did it…

I am happy that I learned the name of one of my great-grandparents: Marcello Mesa. The information was always with my dad, but he never bothered to share it with me.
Filipino Adobo is so easy to make! Every family has their own way of making it, but tonight, I made it my dad’s way. It was delicious!
