big merger created redundancies at every level. with a family to feed, plenty of vacation time earned every year, technical mastery and good potential for income, there were plenty of reasons to stay. but staying would have, again, meant watching others go. I have felt plenty of admiration for those who in the past have had the courage to say, “pick me.” of course, I may have been chosen anyway. I gotta say shoving 9 years of notes into the recycle bin felt great.

We’re going to launch our sailboat in a few weeks. What can be learned from taking a few visibility measurements each time we leave the harbor? This site shows how to make a simple Secchi Disk. Now I am looking for other similar, simple gadgets to help us learn to explore the waters around us each time we head out.
