I’m one of few Teen Librarians, (I’m not a teenager, i just serve them), in the USA. I’m well versed in Anime, popular series, new books, older books, video games and popular music.
THe only thing is that i seem to suck at programming. A Teen Librarian can’t just read a book or play a video game and be good at their job. They have to engage their community in a real way, they must help create a (positive) physical presense. Not too many of our programs are big hits, and by “big hit” i mean more than 5 people show up. So i’ll have to work more with the kids to find out what they, as a collective, are looking for from us.
I can’t even consider myself a passable librarian until i have another program that breaks and attendence of 12.

Well, now that I’m out of school and gainfully employed, finding time for the things i want to do is like stealing. Thank goodness there are a few other people at my job who feel the same way.
We practice every time we see eachother, about five of us. It’s also a lot of fun becuase we can gossip and not many people know what we’re talking about! Several customers have asked me if Spanish is my native language, or if i’m Latina. I guess i did it. Finally, i did it. Now, to write the great bilingual American Novel!

now if i only had someone to practice with…
