North America was easy – I was born there. Now I can add Asia to the list as I sit in my Chinese apartment :)

How I did it: It was a trip with my ex - camping on our motorcycles. We had been riding all day and hoped to make it to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal before the last sailing, but we didn't make it. So I thought, "I know"! Let's camp on Cypress Mountain! We rode up to the lookout point and kicked back on top of the world. Vancouver's lights sprawled out from under us and you could hear the city hum with energy. It was warm enough that we decided not … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I would suggest going to the library for this one. Real books should be used over internet information whenever you want to know that the facts have been checked. It was a very long time ago, but this is one tidbit that stuck with me that I just love. A story from some book I read for a social studies project... The Berserkers were a small sect of very ferral Norsemen. There "right of passage" was to go bear hunting naked in the sno… Read how I did it…
How I did it: During a 2-week camping trip on Vancouver Island (BC, Canada), my boyfriend and I set out to stay a couple of days next to the Horne Lake Provincial Park. Rosetta Stone has unfortunately not been a whole lot of help. The program is designed to learn the whole language, not to be practical. For example, I know how to say “the boy is eating an apple”, or “the girls have bicycles”, but I dont know how to say “where’s the bathroom”. Luckily, my boyfriend’s brother comes here all the time and knows a little. He’s here for our first couple of weeks, so it’s working out well. His girlfriend lives in China so she helps us order food and such. Here’s to hoping we can manage after he goes back home!
So I’ve landed in China and after my first two days in Shen-Zen, I have yet to find any rat on a stick. I’m really hoping that it isn’t dependent on location – we’ve got an apartment for the month here. We’ve been to classy places that serve soup with pieces of black-skinned chicken, feathers and all. We’ve been down cockroach ridden ally ways with street vendors that sell everything from roasted chestnuts to whole salted ducks with the heads on. Still, no rat. China is amazing to explore, so I don’t mind if our quest leads us into somewhere unknown. The search continues…
