How I did it: There are many certifying schools including PADI, NAUI, NASDS, and others. PADI is the one I chose. It offers an intensive class over two weekends with confined water dives (in the pool) on Sat and Sun, and four open water dives (in the ocean) on Sat and Sun of the second weekend. I’ve written the story and I’m working on the illustrations. When I’m done with that, I’ll start submitting it for publication. I’m hoping, despite the many rejections I might get, that I will keep sending it out until it sticks.
