I didn’t do it all personally, but when I was in the 3rd grade my class made 1000 paper cranes for our teacher. she was retiring that year and her dream was to go to Japan. She did a lot of Japanese projects for my class, she had friends of hers from Japan come and speak with our class and she taught us so many oragami creatures. She always had nice paper for us on hand if we wanted to practice during class time. So for her retirement gift my class gave her 1000 cranes and the next summer she made her dream come true and went to Japan for a couple months. It was so great!
