I’ve been mostly out of work for months, and haven’t had anything but temporary jobs since 2006. Right now, I’m working less than 20 hours a week, and the assignment will end June 2010.
My problems:
1.Gaps in my employment history.
2.Being older
I don’t have bad qualifications, but nothing outstanding. I’m not sure what to do to make myself more employable, or if I should just try for several somethings to make ends meet. I’ve got a degree, but it’s old and out of date. It wasn’t a popular BA in my region at the time I graduated so no one wanted to use those skills. It is now, but because of having no one with which to practice, I’m beyond rusty.
If any of you have faced these barriers, I’d appreciate hearing your comments. Thanks!

Yay! I registered for NaNoWriMo and got “Plot What Plot” by Chris Baty to prepare for it.
Boy, am I ever go to need more discipline. I sat down to read the book, and got three L-O-N-G calls from relatives, and zip there went my time. (I suppose I’ll just say that I was working on my social goals during that time. Yeah, that’s the ticket. XD)
Tomorrow, though, I’m reading the book and starting an outline and/or getting some ideas about what sort of characters/settings/specialized research I’d like in my novel.
Very excited about this, though! I’ve always wanted to write, but never really did anything about it until I found this website and saw what everyone else was doing to reach their goals. I love the inspiration.
