How I did it: 1st, bought a house. In my old town, pet-friendly apartments were tough to come by.Wasn't sure I was ready, but at the urging of my girlfriend, I headed down to the Denver Humane Society to check things out. I would up adopting Otto, a feisty 2 year-old border collie mix. He had been there since November - almost 9 months. That means he's spent almost half his life in the pound! :-(And it's been great so far. He's 10 times more well-behav… Read how I did it…
How I did it: To answer this question, you really have to look at the reasons a person would want to get out of L.A. (And why it feels like such a hurdle to do so).I lived in L.A. for 8 years. It wasn't ever really my kinda town...but like so many people, I was there for The Industry. It was a love/hate relationship. There were times when L.A. really rocked...and other times when I kept wondering what I was thinking. Ultimately, after much soul-searchin… Read how I did it…

So when I first listed this, I was trying to get a gig at a tunnel in L.A. Since then, I’ve moved to Colorado, and spent a lot more time at the tunnel. And while I still love the idea of working there (it’;s the best way to get really good really fast), I’m not sure that it’s going to happen for me. There were some concerns about my size (which is small) that may be justified.
But over the past year, now having 32+ hours of flight in a tunnel (& flying on a very competitive 4-way formation skydiving team)...and having gotten my AFF-Instructor rating to instruct in the sky…I’m now in a spot where I can effectively coach in the tunnel.
I got signed off as an official coach recently, and have begun bringing in students. Going to take a little longer…but I’m getting paid to fly with people (& help them fly better), which is a pretty damn awesome thing.
Well, it’s (almost) official. Calling today to discuss PRK with the doc. Already had the eval – just need to set up an appointment, then get ready for it.
I’ll have to go 2 weeks without wearing contacts beforehand…and I HATE wearing glasses. Then about a 5-7 day recovery time after the surgery. (Having PRK instead of LASIK due to lots of physical activities where LASIK won’t provide as much protection.)
Slightly more nervous about the whole thing than I ever was about jumping out of airplanes.
