Done with that. 17 months ago

Forgot to write about this way back when, but about 6 months ago I put about 20 jumps on a Phoenix Fly Acro.

The good: Whoa. Different way of flying altogether. Great for someone like me, who’s light enough that I can float above others, even in an acrobatic suit…but if I want to get down to someone, I can just tuck in the wings & fly dirty. The control range is phenomenal.

That being said, I didn’t go nuts over it like so many friends have. It was a blast, to be sure. But I think I prefer a normal freefall jump. It’s nice to get 2 minutes+ freefall time in a wingsuit, sure…but there’s something strage about it for me – it’s like the jump loses some of its urgency.

Guess I like flying when the pressure’s on. I suppose I could achieve that by getting into some wingsuit big ways, but that’ll be a while.

For now, this discipline’ll likely be a hobby – an enjoyable one – but less of a focus for me.

...and we're off. 17 months ago

3 weeks, and counting. After thinking about it for years, I’m finally making the move to Denver at the end of June!

Gotta say, I will miss lots of things about L.A…but it’s mostly the people who’re close to me. I still think the town as a whole is really backward. And much too aggravating to live your life in (I should know – I’ve spent 8 years trying to get the place to grow on me).

I have a great loft waiting on me…some kickass skydiving…a kayak…and a dog, all waiting on me in CO. Woo-hoo!

...and so it begins. 23 months ago

Made the decision over the holidays. After 8 years in L.A, I’m headed halfway across the continent…to Denver. It’s about as un-L.A. as you can get, which may be why my wishy-washy self is drawn to it.

(That, and the snow.)

So I’m now laying the groundwork for a move in the next six months. The one thing I’ve realized: it’s amazing how much stuff you accumulate when you’ve been living in one place for a long while… :)
