Finally did this last night! After discovering that both our property tax bill and our supplemental tax bills were each about $2,500 higher than expected (due to our house being overassessed and an insame amount of city ad velorum taxation), our budget was in big trouble.
Worked out the math (and also updated all of our repeating monthly costs)and it looks like we’ll each be putting an extra $150 per bi-monthly paycheck until April of next year. No fun, but managable. If we get used to it, we’ll continue to put in that amount to pay of the Passat more quickly, as we’ll need to buy a new car to replace D’s soon. It’s become a complete money pit.

I just took this quiz:
http://www.myfootprint.org/
I was as honest as possible and leaned toward the worst (well, that’ll make it easier to improve, right?)
CATEGORY ACRESFOOD 3.7
MOBILITY 1SHELTER 5.2
GOODS/SERVICES 5.7
TOTAL FOOTPRINT 16
IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON.
WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON.
IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 3.5 PLANETS.
I’m surprised I didn’t fare worse on mobility. I don’t live near stores or work, and drive nearly everywhere. My car isn’t a guzzler, but, eh…
