Change Direction
Standing at the crossroads
A fog had descended
Covering all but our faces
I looked but could not turn
A sound I could hear
Distinct from behind my ear
A bird called out a warning
Sharp against the cold morning
Though determined to stay
I turned and ran away
To leave her standing there
With nothing left but her stare
As soon as her eyes were closed
It grabbed her by her clothes
Dragged through the falling rain
Never to be seen again
