Here’s the first article! I am a bit confused because the person writing it is too smart for my brain to handle, but I think I get the general gist of it. Sierra Leone is the poorest country in the world, but its natural resources are extremely valuable. These resources, including diamonds, have caused countries and corporations to fight. Over 50,000 people have already died from the troubles caused by these diamonds. The rebel forces have accused other governments of being corrupt, while they have caused horrible crimes such as rape and amputation. On top of this, they fight with a great amount of child soldiers. Studies show that a quarter of the soldiers fighting are under 18. I can only imagine that most of these children were kidnapped and forced to fight against their own will.
