Though I’m not sure whether I’ll be going directly to graduate school, I am considering all my options for after I graduate in the spring. I have currently: Columbia University, MIT, Australia, and a few others, but I want to narrow it down considerably.

My now-girlfriend and I went to Assateague National Seashore and slept in a tent there. We watched the stars, and fell asleep together. This being after walking the beach and watching the nearly full moon. Awesome!
I’ve struggled in the past with my weight—more so how I let it affect me than with any health-impeding obesity. I have other reasons I won’t go into here, but suffice to say, I would like to feel better about wearing a tight shirt. I don’t want ripped abs, nor be overly bony or emaciated.
I think that media is often trying to supplement self-esteem with a simple exercise prescription that will fix everything for the low-low price of 39.99. Its a huge industry, and its actually somewhat predatory.
So here’s my goal: In 8 weeks, I’ll attempt to do the following, whether or not it’ll reduce my weight by 10 pounds is unimportant:
1. Work out with weights twice a week. four times is just too much.
2. Estimate portions better and not be stuffed. I’ve been vacationing, and so that’s become somewhat a habit that I need to break.
3. Get some activity each day. Some “exercise” twice a week, whether it be on a machine or bike or anything. But otherwise, just play or walk or do something outside the house. Ballroom dancing does indeed count.
4. Don’t fret over restricting deserts, fat, counting calories, etc. Life is stressful and complicated enough. Also, don’t weigh until 4 weeks, and don’t put any weight on that weight =P
