11) Finding new music to fall in love with.
12) Having a really great work out doing Jeet Kune Do and going home with a sense of tired accomplishment.
13) New episodes of Spongebob Squarepants or Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. Yes, I’m an absolute 6 year old at times.
14) Adventures of any variety! New frontiers, adrenaline-pumping experiences, traveling the road less traveled…I want it all!
15) Receiving one of a few VERY sparing compliments from my martial arts instructors. That will always make my day.

This goal has been accomplished!
My best friend Travis takes martial arts classes with me so I’ve seen much more of him for the past 6 months…Tasha has been living with me so I see her every other day.
I have new friends involved with my martial arts classes, too…so yeah. I see my friends and acquaintances fairly often now :)
There will always be too few hours in the day to see everyone as often as I’d like to- but this will be as good as it gets, for now.

This week’s biological creature is: THE ALMIGHTY BARNACLE!
Outside of being something that boat owners must occasionally scrape off of their hulls (and being SpongeBob’s favorite swear word,) these little guys are actually living creatures that are closely related to crabs and lobsters.
They float around as larva for a while until they find a rock, a ship or any other vessel to land on.
From Wikipedia:
“When an appropriate place is found, the cyprid larva cements itself headfirst to the surface and then undergoes metamorphosis into a juvenile barnacle. Typical barnacles develop six hard armour plates to surround and protect their bodies. For the rest of their lives they are cemented to the ground, using their feathery legs (cirri) to capture plankton and gametes when spawning…instead of molting, they grow by adding new material to the ends of their heavily calcified plates.”
...thus they remain until some god-like scraper descends from heaven to remove them from their once happy home.
That must suck.
Apparently some species are edible:
(Also from Wikipedia:)
“Some barnacles are edible by humans, and the gooseneck barnacle (Pollicipes polymerus), in particular, is treasured as a delicacy in Greece, Spain, and other Mediterranean countries.”
Hmm. Kinda makes me want to go suck on a barnacle. Then again, that could solely be because I’m starving right now.
