My senior year in high school, I finally broke out of my shell and got involved in the drama club.
The fall production was “Alice in Wonderland” and I was Humpty-Dumpty. I had a whole scene with just me and Alice, and I was also in a Theatre class at the time at school. It was all so crazy! I’m not a people-person at all, but here I was, getting up on stage and pretending to be a stuck-up egg. (Except my costume was a big poofy dress that only gave the hint of being egg-like. :p)
It was so much fun and, since I enjoyed it and was also being dragged into the choir by a friend of mine, I decided to try out for the spring musical “Kiss Me Kate.” It was really crazy-fun. I was in the chorus and I also had a minor part (Ralph the stage manager, though they did change the name to Helga since I’m a girl). It was loads of fun!
So I want to try some theatre stuff in college. Maybe I’ll just be a stagehand, or a tech person, or just something small—I don’t think I could get a big part or anything hugely important. That doesn’t matter to me. Theatre is so much fun! I want to keep it in my life somehow.

After much work this year, I have things to report.
I applied to several colleges and was accepted to all except one (UMich—which said I would have been accepted if there was room). After a lot of visits, research done online and off, and talking to current students and such, I decided on the University of Akron. I knew I wanted to go into some sort of engineering (which they have really good programs for), and I had also stayed at the school last summer for the Women in Engineering program.
I also applied to the honors college, got an interview, and got in. Then they told me about a second interview/essay deal that was for 18 people out of the 600+ for the honors college, and that this interview was for 4 four-year-full-ride scholarships and 5 two-year-full-ride scholarships. I kinda freaked at this point.
Long story short, I got one of the four-year scholarships and I’m going to Akron to major in mechanical engineering (or so I’ve decided for now).
Will update with more info later on! I’m going to college in the middle of August!!!

They say if you do something everyday for 21 days, it becomes a habit. So… I’ve been doing better than I was before, but still not writing everyday. Been writing in spurts.
I’m going to start my 21 days tomorrow… I have a million grad parties to go to today.
It’s also nice that this goal coincides with #6… my novel, which has almost two chapters now! (This is an accomplishment for me, I’m so bad at continuing whatI start…)
