I don’t know how I seem to end up with not enough room for all my stuff. I’m not a person who buys things I don’t have room for, and I’m not a hoarder or a saver. Right now I blame it on having a small apartment shared with a roommate. When we first moved in, I streamlined a lot of stuff and tried having a simple living space. I loved it. But then when I started grad school, I had to get a desk and a bigger computer and more books and now it’s all cluttered again. Hopefully I’ll be able to move into my own apartment soon, which, even if it’s small, should give me some more space to “simplify.”

I joined Spark People a month ago and since then I’ve been eating within my calorie limit (with a few slips here and there) and exercising. I lost 10 pounds this month! I’ve got a long ways to go before I’m at my goal, but I’m not worried about it. I’m working really hard to make this a lifestyle change, not just another diet.
So I told my roommate that I was thinking I’d like to have my own apartment, and that the best time for me to move would be in January because that’s when I have a break from classes. She wasn’t totally opposed to the idea! I also explained that it was going to be difficult for me this spring when I go back to work full time while going to school, because I’ll be doing homework in the evenings when I need it to be quiet.
Our lease doesn’t end until June, though, and we don’t want to have to pay the extra month’s rent for breaking the lease. We’re hoping to talk to management soon and ask if there’s a way to waive that fee if we both got apartments in this same complex.
Here’s to hoping for the best!
