relief, relief, relief 2 days ago

Had my 27-week OB appointment Tuesday and came out smiling, smiling! My doctor was actually friendly and responsive for once. And she told me the sugars in my urine are super super low! YES! Which means the insulin injections are making a huge difference. Apparently I had “trace amounts” of sugar, just like any other normal pregnant woman without gestational diabetes. She also gave us the follow-up on our high risk ultrasound last month, and confirmed that I will NOT be diabetic after the baby is born, and that Piper has no known birth defects due to the elevated blood sugars in the beginning.

I mentioned my concern about gaining only 4 or 5 pounds overall so far. My aunts and cousins are freaking out because when I sit down, I don’t really look pregnant. Just kinda chubby :) And they’re all like, “Oh, by the time I was 6 months I had gained at least 20 or 30 pounds.” Well, my OB told me to tune them out and that my body doesn’t need 30 extra pounds right now, or ever. I’m not the skinny chick who’s “all belly.” Piper is growing normally and I measured exactly 27 weeks, so all is well.

Such a relief! Taking my blood sugars after each meal is one thing, but the urine analysis is what I like to go by. It’s more…official? I dunno. But I’m one happy mama!

I love when dogs dream. They growl and their feet twitch.
It’s adorable.

Daily: Reflect on 5 things for which I'm grateful. (read all 164 entries…)
Monday 5 days ago

Today I’m grateful for:
1. Giving my mom’s dog a bath. He’s a Pomeranian, the calmest and quietest you’ll ever meet, and his bathtime is no exception. I had to get a few shots of his little face during his scrubdown:)
2. A twilight walk with my husband. The moon is huge and orange tonight. Very romantic.
3. I’ll be cheesy and mention hubby again :) I was very grateful for his hugs today. He’s so solid and loving. No one makes me feel safer than he does, with my face tucked into the curve of his neck.
4. The hope of getting our car fixed. A band-aid is no longer doing the job.
5. Today means exactly three months to my due date! October 6th is fast approaching…
