I admit it, I’m in love with Japan xD
I’ve been interested in the Maiko (apprentice Geiko) and Geiko (Kyoto dialect for Geisha)of Kyoto for a while now. These women train in the traditional arts of Japanese dancing, conversation making and etiquette among many other things. They don’t sleep with men at all like some people think either. If you’re lucky and you’re in Kyoto, you can see these Maiko or Geiko scurrying through the the small, ancient streets.
That’s why I’d love to be able to see one ^^

The picture is of a Maiko named Mamehana. When girls join the proffesion at around 15-16 years old, they train to become a Maiko for about a year. This is when they recieve a new “profesional name” in which they will go by when they become a Maiko, and with enough training a Geiko.

How I did it: Well, it wasn't really expecting to get a penfriend, but on a video site I met one girl who enjoyed the same sorts of things as me, so we began sending emails to each-other. I found out she was from Finland, and was around the same age as me. She sent the first letter to me with a photo of herself, and I replied back in the same way. These days we still talk to each-other by msn, email and letters, and I'm hoping to meet her while I'm on … Read how I did it…
How I did it: Well, I never really planned that I would see the Phantom in theater, since I had no background knowledge of it before seeing it. It was on in the Entertainment Center, Adelaide and as a last minute decision, the tickets were bought! But as the light went out and the Overture played, I was instantly in love! Anthony Warlow played the Phantom, and Ana Marina as Christine. My goal now is to grab another oppourtunity to see it again and… Read how I did it…
Argh! There’s so much stuff I want to buy, and I’m in the stage just before getting a part-time job, so I still get a fortnightly allowence. I need to work out some sort of plan to distribute my money evenly so I can save for important stuff, but also have a little extra for a treat x3
... these are the books I’ve already read this year:
The Twilight Series (About 2-3 times each book xD)
The Vampire Academy Series (VA, Frostbite, Shadowkiss, Blood Promise coming soon)
Evernight (Stargazer coming soon)
Geisha (Liza Dalby and also one by Lesley Downer)
Total: 10
I’m currently reading City of Bones, there’s about 3 or four in the series atm.. but I also want to get:
The rest of the COB series
The House of Night series – PC Cast and Kirsten Cast
I also want to get more books on interesting topics [to me], like Japan and stuff like that, oh and manga xD
If your wondering about all the vamire-related things, there’s kinda a little tradition going on where all my friends and I reccomend one book we find interesting, and we all read it xD
