Senior Year

Now that I have a few classes that are really difficult and I have color guard taking up a lot of my time after school, it’s been getting harder and harder to procrastinate—because my procrastination time is the same amount of time it takes to actually get stuff done! Because I have to do stuff as soon as I get home to actually get to bed by 12:30, it makes it easier to do my homework as soon as I get home even if I don’t have much.
The easiest way to keep myself from procrastinating has proven, thus far, to be to just keep myself so busy that I can’t.

The most common advice I’ve gotten from adults recently (via YouTube) is something along the lines of, “Seriously. FLOSS.” (Michael Aranda, John Green…) So, I’d better make sure I do it every day. So far this year, I’m good! ;)

10th grade year, I had a 4.0 all year! Woo!
First quarter of 11th grade I had a 4.0 too…
Second quarter though… I’m a bit worried. I think I may have a 3.8 right now? I’m hoping to make it at least a 3.9 by the time the quarter ends! Spanish, Physics, and Calculus… the first from a missing assignment, the last two from just difficulty level. Hopefully I’ll make it! XX

So far, this is going alright for the new year… I’ve finished all of my (late) physics homework, except for the things I don’t understand. All I now need is to know what my teacher wanted to be the due date on this essay… I’ll probably do it tonight anyway.

So, things to work on this year –
- Getting my physics homework done the night before it’s due so I can ask questions, and have the night free for my B day homework.
- Doing my calculus as soon as I get home, before physics, to prevent my doing it during lunch (the period before the class).
- Checking the syllabus for English to make sure I know when due dates are, before I fear they are close.
- Read my chapters for AP U.S. history the weekend before they are to be quizzed, if possible – if not, 5 pages a night. XX
- Don’t be shy of my fellow lit mag students – they could possibly dislike their own writing just as much as I do. If I need to do a peer edit, presentation, or teacher meet, do it as soon as possible!
-Don’t need to worry about it for drawing – I adore that class.

10th grade: So far, so good!

It’s nearing the end of the school year now, but I’ve done well so far! For the first three quarters this year, I’ve gotten 4.0s! This quarter will be the killer, because I’m having a lot of trouble keeping up. AP practice test I’ll be missing and have to make up next week, and my AP European (real!) test is next week on Friday! Also, two projects due on Monday, one done, and one just starting on. Aaaaahhhh!!!

Things I’ve learned throughout my school years:
If you get teachers to like you, then life is made much easier.
Teachers love for you to sell chocolate to them.
Some of the best work ever is done last minute. (Shhh!!)

Solve this equation for me: finishedhomework = xsleep
My solution was variable between 6 and 6.5 hours.

I don’t really like much meat as it is, I only ever eat chicken and turkey. I figure that if I don’t eat other meat, it can’t be too hard to eliminate this, and make myself feel better both about myself and about the animals, because I don’t think they deserve to be bred to die for me.

Timelines

I need to focus on creating time lines to get things done, so that I am doing things at a good pace and so that I will not have a heap of work that will pile on me when I finally realized I didn’t do something important.
