Whatever you decide to buy, you have to be able to forget how much you paid for it, and love it as an object rather than an object that’s “worth” something. Find something you’re crazy about.

A little, anyway. We’ve been finding areas that need cleaning up (areas that collect piles of papers and books and whatnot). Actually, my husband finds the piles, begins working on cleaning them up, and I take that as my cue to help out….
A little progress, yes.
We bought it on a whim, hoping that it wouldn’t be too grown up for her. But really, the most tragic moments, she doesn’t quite get yet, and for her, it’s just a great story about a little girl. For me, it is, of course, much more.
