How I did it: At first I didn't mean to prepare myself for getting into Cornell, I was planning on going to school in California for a while, but by the time senior year come I decided to apply for the heck of it. I always did a diverse number of activities inside and outside of school. I've also been very culturally in touch and active in my church. How I did it: Called a hair dresser for the first time in years, made an appointment, got the hair cut and mailed it in. So my goal will be at least 3 languages, including english, but I would like to get up to 4 or 5. Right now I’m working on my Greek, then I’ll move on to Spanish once I’ve got Greek under my belt. I already know latin pretty fluently, so that might lend to the Spanish.
I’m half Greek and grew up hearing it in Church and when my mother’s side of the family was around. I’ve always loved it, but have never known more than a few phrases and conversational words here and there. So now I’m determined to become fluent. I’m doing some online courses right now and will take a class this fall at school, so I’m really putting both feet in.
