I checked out Pimsleur CDs from the library this weekend. I learned to say “Excuse me, do you understand English?” in Farsi. It’s not much, but it’s a start.
Because English is my mother language, I have trouble with one of the sounds that we don’t have. On it’s own, the “kh” sound (like the “ch” sound in the Fiddler on the Roof song, “LaChaim”) isn’t so bad. When it’s followed by a diphthong, it’s nearly lethal! I feel like I’m going to cough up a fur ball when I say “be-bakh-shin” (“excuse me”)! I will get it with practice, though – and will always have my throat cleared while I’m at it!

OK – My start to this goal is to buy a 10-visit card to the local pool this weekend. Then I can start swimming next week.

I got a boost with starting this goal when I found out last week that I’m anemic. So, my doc prescribed a daily dose of iron, along with Vitamin C to help absorb it better. So far, I’ve been taking them every day for six days!
I’ve found that those compartmentalized weekly pill boxes really helped me remember to take other medication. Now I’ve added my vitamins.
