For years I kept treating my acne with acne medicine.
For me, this was not the problem.
It was my ADHD causing me to pay too much attention to every little blemish on my face. I was constantly feeling my face, picking at it etc. I couldn’t pay attention as to if my hands were dirty or greesy before touching my face. I would forget to wash my face, change my pillow case… things like that.
I went to see a professional, was re-diagnosed and got onto Adderall. My life has never been better! These OCD-like tendancies brought on by noticing every little thing and not being able to delete them from my brain if not important… are gone! I’ve stopped picking my face, touching it as often, started washing it more and paying attention to how my skin reacted to different lotions etc.
The right medicine for the right job.

Once I got into the business, I found it to be (in my opinion) a dishonest business model.
I would encourage everyone thinking of going into Mary Kay to read some things on this website before deciding:
http://www.pinktruth.com/
I found two things that I really really disliked:
1) Sneaky recruiting tactics across the board.
Learn more here: http://www.pinktruth.com/mary-kay-facts/the-mary-kay-pyramid/
I could not take orders slowly and immediately start making money. After buying the $100 kit and being told that I had NO minimum sales goals and that I was my own boss. However, I found that in order to MAKE any money (or get my own discount) I have to place a minimum $200 wholesale order ($400 retail, plus tax on the retail value every 3 months. This is not accumulative either, it’s in one lump sum. So if I had a $20 order here, a $50 order there, and they where spread out, I would have to either order and deliver without making any money, or I would have to make up the difference and put my own money in to purchase “inventory” to make up the rest of the $400. Every 3 months until I was regularly pulling in those type of sales.
2) Out dated and sexist.
I would be required to wear a skirt at all times while doing business with and for Mary Kay. Now I’m fine wearing a skirt. I’m not fine being told that I MUST wear one, and I am not allowed pants. Other people may not have a problem with this. But in a company where I am told “I’m my own boss” I don’t like this type of micro management.
3) Strict limits on marketing.
I could not set up my own website, use the Mary Kay name outside of their own materials etc. Again, the thought of “your own boss” is very limited in Mary Kay.

I am DONE cleaning out my email inbox!
I did it using ActiveInbox! A Free plugin for gmail. It is AMAZING and helped like crazy! I can now sort and empty my inbox every day so it is at ZERO when I wake up. I sort things into projects, and if it is an “Action”, “Next”, or “Waiting On” item. I then also add a tag for the day it is due (in ActiveInbox as well, but it’s an added paid feature… I just added it. It’s not too much and worth it I think, but you could try adding your own tags for dates too, if you want, without the plugin).
Here’s a link to Active Inbox. Again, it’s free, with some features being paid add-ons, but you don’t need them for functionality: www.activeinboxhq.com

I was sitting on the back porch on the laptop. Every once and awhile I’d look over and wonder what ground covering I’d like to put in…. The top ideas where: Sage, Rosemary, Lavender, and flower I don’t know the name of… Well, as I was working, I heard something flutter and saw what might have been a large leaf dance onto the porch. When I walked over to look, however, it turned out to be a full, unopened package of Rosemary seeds!!! ... Incredible!

“Remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it” (1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT).

That life is so amazing… you can will yourself (including your body, illnesses, etc) to do just about anything. Michael Jordan willed himself to grow 4inches in a single summer after being kicked off the team. He grew to be 6 foot 6, when neither his brothers nor his dad had ever grown to 6 foot at all.

Went over it with the hubby and he likes it. We’ll have to dip into other places to get a few next-month only-s but the budget’s starting to look good!!

I found some errors that I made (like one time purchases in the past year that we don’t need to re-buy or save up for right now) so I’ve stripped things down … And I MAY just have a useable budget!! I’ll run it by the hubby soon to see what he thinks. Although cash is harder to track, I MAY just start using the cash-enveloping system for the food and shopping portion of the budget. We’ll see.

For the last week I was going up then down then up then down.
Finally I switched to a new diet, and I lost 1.5lbs in the last two days!!!!
It’s based on the Paleo Diet. Here’s what I’m doing:
- Cut Down on Carbs (around 100-150 if I’m training weights, around 80 if aerobics, under 80 if on rest-day. More on any particularly strenuous day, physically.)
- Cut back on sodium
- Near eliminated caffeine (still drink tea at times)
- Eliminated breads
- Eliminated simple sugars
- Eliminated grains
- Upped Veggitable intake
- Upped Fat intake
- A fruit (or more) a day
- Very minimal processed foods
- At least .5-1 gram of protein per pound of lean bodymass
Where I differ from a strict Paleo Diet is that I still eat/drink dairy (some believers in the Paleo Diet do not believe you should drink milk, but I choose to side with the Maasai, who were strong and depended on milk. I also take vitamins every day.
I am tracking my meals on www.sparkpeople.com
