Took me about a billion years to finish (I had to keep renewing it and rechecking it out from the library), but I’m glad I did it. I was ashamed that as an English major I had not already read it.

My Marathon Experience
I’ve always loved running, but training for a marathon stretched me in new ways. I learned to put up with larger amounts of pain than I’ve ever experienced, both during the race itself and during a 20-mile training run (that was the biggest run before the taper, thankfully). I wanted to do a marathon to test my physical limits, and I think I met them face to face. I made it to the finish in about four and a half hours (and only in moderately crippling pain, thanks to ibuprofen at nearly all the aid stations after 5 miles) and I was so proud of myself. I don’t know if I’ll do it again, but I’m glad I did it once.
