How I did it: I took over organising a social group when the previous organiser stepped down. So I now host one dining group, co-host a lunch club with two assistant organizers, and I also run the local tweetups (Twitter users who meet up to socialise).There are also a few local groups on Facebook that have social events. Pub crawls, lunches and cinema outings.It's all been a bit of a whirlwind, really! So many things going on that I haven't really had… Read how I did it…

go to las vegas
Well worth a visit 14 months ago

We visited Las Vegas twice, as part of two separate touring holidays.

It’s a very strange place, especially if you don’t gamble (I don’t). But a city right in the middle of the desert is well worth seeing. And some of the shops in the big hotels are superb. And the lights!

When we were there, someone won a lot of money, and security guys in suits suddenly appeared from every direction. It turned out to be genuine, thankfully.

Oh, and apparently it used to be the safest city in the US, simply because everyone is watched everywhere they go.

Well worth a visit, though for a week at the most.

talk to a complete stranger on Skype
Brilliant concept 14 months ago

A girl from Beijing called me on Skype today, and we chatted for more half an hour. It was superb.

We exchanged email addresses and mobile telephone numbers (we can call free with Skype paid accounts!), and we’ll keep in touch.
