How I did it: I played LOTS of free gigs (20 or so) in Cafes as often as I could, then I took one gig that allowed me to get paid if I brought in over 10 people. That didn't work, because it's hard to bring anyone out to your shows when you first start. But the second time I took a gig that gave me half of the door, no matter how many people came! So that is the trick. Try to find a place that gives you a percentage of the door even if you bring just 1… Read how I did it…

This is a goal that needs to be backed up by serious counseling, I think. How can I do this on my own? Every guy that I’ve ever deeply loved or cared for has been emotionally unavailable to me.
I played my first paying gig!

I did it! I played the Cocky Bull in Victorville tonight and I got paid $12 – hahah, not much, I realize…but this was a goal that I was dying to achieve. Hopefully the next payout is a bit more substantial, but it’s gonna be a lot easier from here on out!
