Twice now and I love it. Walk everywhere!
Joe and I went last year (Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara) and really loved it. We’d go back but there are so many other places we’ve never been that we’d also like to see.
I did this with Joe last summer (sorry, been neglecting my 43 things) and it was an absolute blast.
Grab the dice and go!
Only thing left is student loan and it’s dramatically less than my savings.
Yay! Positive net worth!
I wound up getting a better phone camera (Samsung A-880) and being perfectly content with that. Small, directly able to upload to Flickr, and I always have it with me.
Now I’m thinking of trading in my phone (a Treo 600) for one that’s smaller and has at least as good or better a camera.
2005 was a great year for me and practicing Discardia. My home is so much more sanity-enhancing now! And my work life is saner too.
I’m going to be sharing all that I’ve learned in a Discardian tip a day in 2006: http://www.metagrrrl.com/discardian/
Heh. And then I upgraded my computer and went on my big trip to Africa and London. Hello debt. Time to knock you down again.
I can only be master of so many skills at a time and CSS is no longer at the core of my job. I’m a web product manager and solution designer now, not a webcrafter anymore.
I’ll still be absorbing as much CSS as I can by osmosis, but I’m going to stop kicking myself over never getting to be a real stud at positioning.
I’ll be adding Africa to my current count of North America and Europe on a trip this fall. Hooray!

Getting a good kitchen scale really brought my tool set up to the minimum level for becoming a very good cook. Do get one with the tare function so you can cancel out the weight of the measuring bowl and do add & weigh. I like my Salter 6055. Very compact and easy to clean.
You do save a lot of money, but it’s cold, messy work. If you don’t eat chicken breasts at least twice a week, there might be better things to do with your time. I recommend having someone teach you rather than trying to figure it out from a book. Ask an elderly neighbor or relative if she can teach you to cut up a chicken; learning from older folks can be easier.
Yes, they do let you and it’s great.
I really recommend the walk. You can start at Crissy Field or the Presidio and walk up to the bridge and across. If you’re careful of traffic you can walk along the road on the other side that winds down into Sausalito. Have a meal there and then take the ferry back into San Francisco past Alcatraz to Fisherman’s Wharf. It’s a great day out!
