Did this a bunch of times as a kid growing up in Ohio. Went across country to California three times, Florida several times, and Washington DC and Texas each once.
On my own I’ve gone to Myrtle Beach from Ohio. From NC to New Orleans three times, Myrtle a zillion times, and Florida three times. Main thing to remember is to be patient with others in the car with you. It can get a little hectic at times spending all that time together in a car. Just be patient, taking things as they come without worrying too much. Have fun and enjoy the ride! :-)

It’s great to just get some clothes together and get in the car and go down the road at a moment’s notice, with or without a destination. I’ve discovered the coolest things and had the most fun when I’ve done this. Serendipity rules! Sometimes I’ve just looked at a map and said hmmm, this might be interesting, and off I go, not really knowing what I’ll find. Coastal areas are a great place to do this, I’ve found. But really just about anywhere is cool. I think coastal and rural areas are the best though. Never know what you’ll stumble upon or across.
