Homophobia isn’t always just strong verbal abuse and bullying. I have learned that it can be a quiet rejection and mild disgust. I recently came out to my family and a few close friends and no-one has been actively nasty, but I have come across people belittling it and saying that homosexuality is a fad and that it is unnatural, and that it will all just “blow-over”. Very little appreciation of the effort it has taken me to express myslef. This is not just for sympathy, it is just I wanted to say that often it is the most subtle homophobia from those you love that hurts the most.
