How I did it: Lots of lessons and a few tears!!The most important thing is to pick an instructor thats right for you. Everyone has different methods of teaching so dont be afraid when you first start to have lessons with a few different instructors to see who you prefer. After all, the average person needs 45 hours of tuition to get them ready for a test and at £24 a lesson you are going to be investing a lot of your money in them … Read how I did it…

A dream, but an achievable one...?

Lots of companies are now offering packages for beginners which are half and half, as in you spend your first week in a hotel and are trained in various aspects of skippering a yacht. Then the second week you get to take out your own flotilla (with help on hand if needed from the head of the fleet). Ideal starting place would be the Ionian seas calm waters with many secluded beaches and islands to discover.
