Well, this is a subject that can be argued in a debate as heated as those over politics or religion, believe it or not. I am a slightly older member of the vampiric community. I’m in my early thirties, and I am also a scientist. I am also what I term as a “purist” in my beliefs about true members of our society. All this means is that those of us who have this “condition”, and call it what ever makes you happy, is caused by genetic abnormality. For example, when people ingest asperagus, there are those whom, um…..well….their urine will smell quite pungent later. This is because they posess a gene known as percaptin which adheres to certain molecules in the asperagus causing the pungent odor. Vampirism is comperable to this in that only certain people posess the gene to make us what we are and not all of us experience the same thing.

You can also look at it from the aspect of eye color. You may want green eyes, but if you were born with brown eyes, no matter how hard you wish, want, and pray, you absolutely cannot change your natural eye color.

I have done much research and have many theories, but I just can’t ask a person, “Hey! Why don’t you come on down to the lab? I’m gonna give you an injection of this stuff that’ll make you feel a little hazey and all will be well.” Then hack them up and test them and if I find out something defining, write an amazing, one-of-a-kind paper, get published and make millions. It’s just not probable.

As others have pointed out, the life we live isn’t glamarous and none of the junk you read in books or see in movies or on tv is real. We are normal people who work jobs and go to school just like everybody else. As far as the blood drinking thing, we do tend to have a bit more of a “preditory” side than the average person, but none of the myths are true. We get sick, have health problems and live and die like everybody else. The blood drinking issue, it is not necessary and is more of a fetish than anything. We do require more protein, amino acids, and iron than the average person because we do experience an extreme drop in our levels, but blood cannot provide that. A nice rare steak is breathtaking during those times! I just can’t find any information, through all of my research, to substantiate the need for blood drinking.

There was a person whom suggested that they wanted human blood and that they may need help, I urge you to make that effort. Those in the past who have not are now in prison or in psychiatric facilities and don’t know their butts from a hole in the ground. Also, for those who want to meet “real” vampires, be careful what you wish for. Do research and understand how dangerous some people can be leading you to believe they are vamps or they are sick, murderous, wackos.

If anybody wants to know the truth about vampirism and the bad things about biting people and drinking blood, do some research. You know how to “Google” so do it. You need to understand fact from lore though. Begin with Babalonians, which, for those that don’t know, are the ancestors of the Hebrews. Follow their beliefs down into ancient Greece and keep going. When you get to Louis XIV and Bienville’s landing in New Orleans and you have questions, hit me up! I’m full of info on this subject. I want to educate others about us so that people won’t be afraid of us and these crazy “vampire slayers” will be a thing of the past.
