When my current contract runs out (technically in March, but actually in December because after that it’s vacation) I will not be renewing it. Finally I will do what I’ve been waiting to do – to enroll full-time on a Korean course and spend more time and energy on other things I want to do (and that make me MUCH more excited and happy than teaching) – such as acting, dancing, learning languages, and generally just pursuing my interests without a 9 to 5 (or in my case, a 9.20 to 3) getting in the way. But it means saving as much money as possible between now and then.

How I did it: At 18 I decided to break out from my London suburb and the route expected of me and live in Vietnam. Upon returning to the UK, I changed my major from philosophy to social anthropology and Vietnamese and made up my mind I wanted to travel more and live abroad. this for about 3 months. At that time, I had 1,260,785 of the 12,000,000 I need by March 2012. Now I have 5,311,136 – almost half! And still a year to save! Go me! :) That’s even after I purchased a ticket to Vietnam this week (for a trip in the summer) for 700,000.
I moved house last month which has helped, as I’m paying half the rent (saving me 250,000 a month).
