Look for “The Hassle-Free Make Your Own Clothes Book” by Sharon Rosenberg and Joan Weiner

Pants, gowns, set in sleeves; all of the basics that you need to begin, and they are all based on things you already own.
Choose your best fitting/ most comfortable shirt (not super-stretchy though) lay it on this fabric this way cut it that way and sew together. that easy. I will see if I can do some sketches.
