Man getting those airmiles are harder than I thought! I am up to about 80,000 which is only 20k more than my last post over 2 years ago! part of the trouble is that I keep getting bumped off my People to People delegations because the economy sucks and our delegates cant afford to go and they drop. When that happens, leaders get dropped cause there arent enough delegates to justify the extra leaders. I totally understand it, but it makes racking up air miles a LOT harder. I switched cell phone providers, joined survey panels, joined dining clubs that give airmiles for eating at certain places….Now i am strongly considering changing banks so I can get a Continental Airlines debit card. I would get 21000 miles just for opening the account and having my paycheck directly deposited into it, plus every time I would use the debit card I would earn miles. Anyone out there using an airline debit card? About how many miles can you rack up in a year? My biggest fear is that Continental will change its airmiles plan and the round the world ticket will suddenly be way more expensive or all my airmiles will expire before I can rack up enough….and I am SORELY tempted to use my miles to go to Thailand this summer. Indecision is an awful thing.

At this time, I have about 60,000 airmiles on Continental and the airmile cost for that round the world ticket is still the same….Now I should wind up with about 6000 more miles becasue for some weird reason, the miles for my outgoing trip to Europe weren’t credited but the return trip was….Hopefully I’ll get those miles too which will put me about half way there. Wow…That round the world ticket might be soon than expected unless I decide to try for business or first class….
Ok …I am not even close to reaching this goal yet BUT, I want to be prepared for that day when I have enough airmiles sooooo…..I can either start by going Westbound from LA (easiest since I live in Vegas), or Eastbound starting from NY which would mean either a heckka long flight to Ireland, buying a separate ticket to NY, or wasting a stopver in NY. Had I not lived most of my life in NYC, I’d consider doing that but I can go to NYC and stay with friends anytime. Any suggestions out there? ALso, since I’ve already been to Hawaii, where should I make my first westbound stop if I take that route?
