A difficult week 6 days ago

Its been a difficult week/ten days… Oren has become a somewhat more demanding baby over this time, and its taken a while to adjust, work out what he wants, and find the extra energy required to meet his needs while learning to be able to tune out the crying a little bit!

BashfulC and I have suffered a more strained relationship over this time as well, which hit us as a bit of a shock, as everything had been going well up until this point. Hopefully a lot of lessons have been learnt and we can now focus on heading our relationship in the right direction, being more supportive and mindful of each other.

Im still not feeling like a great mummy at the moment, despite knowing that there are lots of other people who think Im doing an ok job. At the moment I think I am holding heavily to the words of my good 43t friend Minxie – and I am counting getting through the day and having been there for my son, as being enough.

Late Night Shopping – Carmen Reid

Ahhh, another Carmen Reid book… I read this one pretty quickly, despite having a crying baby at home! Had all the usual elements of a Reid novel, and it was interesting that this was the continuation of one of her previous novels. I didnt think it was nearly as good as the novel which preceeded it, as there were no clever twists and it was a novel designed to just tell a light hearted story more than explore characters etc.

Still enjoyable and fun – all I need at the mo!

The Undomestic Goddess – Sophie Kinsella

Have read this before, and felt in the need for a bit of its lighthearted fun. Reviews of this novel have been less than favourable in the past, as for some reason people found it objectionable that Kinsella should write a character other than Becky Bloomswood of the Shopaholic series. However, I enjoyed this novel as a light hearted read – it was a bit less silly than the shopaholic novels which wasnt a bad thing!
