Moving into our dorm room back in August, my roommate and my plan was to show up, get the feel of our room, and determine how big of a TV we wanted. Well we showed up and realized using the TV in the lounge upstairs would be insanely cheaper. The thing is that now there’s no TV right infront of me all the time, I never make the trek to go upstairs—and out of my way—to watch it. I’ve watched a couple episodes of shows I used to watch on my computer when friends tell me they were particularly good and of course, a few promising football games. I just feel so much better knowing I don’t spend time just vegging, watching TV just because it’s there. Five months and going strong!

I’ve been in college for an entire semester now with no job. I have to be honest: I enjoyed the extra time to myself every now and then but mostly, I genuinely missed working. I’ve applied for work on campus so hopefully that will help boost my savings back to where it was when I got to college in August. I have cut back on my spending and I’ve definitely learned to love coupons! But my budget sheet likes to remind me I still spend a little too much on coffe. To curb that expense, I got hot chocolate and instant coffee (I’m way to sleepy in the mornings to deal with making real coffee). Shopping for myself in college has made me SO much more aware of the cost of food!
Random goodnight texts. The person texting isn’t demanding that you entertain them like a “Hey, what’s up?” text. Those show that the person texting is clearly bored. A goodnight text is just a simple reminder that someone is thinking of you. I send them to my friends just to remind them I love em and care about em. :)
